Took me a while to get into it - Ryan Adam's solo stuff seems alot more "instantly digestable". But it's continuing to grow. Reminds me of listening to Mother Love Bone after falling in love with Pearl Jam. Didn't get MLB right away, but it gradually stood up right next to PJ.
For most people, Ryan Adams' finest hour. I like it, but personally i prefer Pneumonia.
This one, along with the best Tupelo albums and a few Steve Earle classics, pretty much defines what alt-country did best.
If you combine this with Pneumonia and Heartbreaker, Adams hit the rare trifecta. Brilliant.
Fantastic - the only album I've ever bought purely on the strength of a review, without knowing who they were. AND I saw them live before they split up - still have the signed ticket. Aint I a gloating git!
Every song sounds like a classic, and now it's got another 24 added in the Expanded Edition.
